Synopsis:
In post Civil War Texas a former Confederate major named Sabata performs as a trick shooter with a traveling circus. When the troupe arrives in the town of Hobsonville, Sabata accidentally encounters a wartime comrade# Clyde, who owes him $5,000. While waiting to recoup his debts Sabata learns that the town is under the control of McIntock a tyrannical Bible reading Irishman who subjects the citizens to heavy taxes with the promise that he will build new schools and hospitals with the money. Because Sabata becomes suspicious of the "public works" project and begins an investigations McIntock orders Clyde to eliminate the inquisitive intruders. Although Clyde obliges by setting a trap for his former friend he soon realizes that McIntock's gunmen intend to kill him as wells and he joins Sabata in foiling the murder attempt. Later with the aid of two circus acrobats and a local gunslinger named Bronco, Sabata and Clyde rob McIntock's bank only to discover that the money is counterfeit and that McIntock has exchanged the real currency for gold and hidden it somewhere on his ranch# By using an elaborate circus hoax wherein Sabata feigns death the men find the gold secreted in a mines decimate McIntock and his henchmen during a violent shootout, and finally restore
